Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer work is a very rewarding experience. You will touch the lives and hearts of hundreds of individuals in need. An encouraging word, a friendly smile, or a cheerful hello provided by a volunteer is a welcomed sight by our staff, patients, and visitors.
You will embark upon an adventure that will provide Russellville Hospital with a measure of generosity that cannot be matched. Our volunteers are a very important participant in the operation of our facility.
Russellville Hospital provides individuals interested in improving facility services and providing patient comfort an opportunity to join the volunteer program. This allows the individual to gain a personal reward by providing service to others. "It is what you do for others that count most in life."
The volunteer program provides individuals 16 years of age and older a chance for career development, personal satisfaction and self-growth.
The program only requires an individual to volunteer a minimum of four hours per week.
The duties currently available for volunteers are:
- Information Desk
- Juice Delivery
- Medical Records - general clerical work
- Office Receptionist in Senior Friends office
- Patient Mail, Newspaper Delivery, Senior Friends Information
- Radiology - general clerical
- Transporter - Assists patients in wheelchair for admittance/discharge
- Washcloth delivery
- Other departments when requested
All volunteers will attend a mandatory orientation period where policies and guidelines will be reviewed. Each volunteer will be evaluated on an annual basis and trained on any changes to policies as needed.
To apply to volunteer, you may pick up an application in Human Resources Department or in the Senior Friends office. All teen volunteers must have a letter of recommendation from a teacher. For more information, you may call 256-331-9989 or 256-331-3891.
We look forward to serving our community together!
